Susan Hanson Joins NYLC as Development and Strategic Partnership Director
sue hansonThe National Youth Leadership Council welcomes Sue Hanson as its new Development and Strategic Partnership Director. In this role, she initiates and manages strategic partnerships, oversees marketing of NYLC products, leads fundraising efforts, and works with the board of directors to ensure the organization's self-sustainability. Hanson comes to NYLC following her tenure as an educational and business-development consultant.
"Sue's experience with development, earned-income initiatives, corporate and foundation partnerships, and communications is a true asset for us," says NYLC President and CEO Jim Kielsmeier. "As a former teacher, she also brings passion for young people and service-learning that will help us nurture stronger relationships with funders and partners."
Hanson began her career in education, teaching English, communications, and theater arts at Minnesota high schools, and serving as the director of a Sylvan Learning Center. She later moved into corporate and foundation arenas, working with the Minnesota Twins Foundation, Techies.com, CNET, the Harmon Killebrew Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education Regional Laboratory, where she served as Vice President of Business Development. After leaving the Regional Laboratory, she set off on her own as a consultant in the areas of education, sales, and business.
