Check out Best Buy’s @15.com website, where service-learning and youth service are the focus of a youth-led initiative to raise money for four nonprofits — and NYLC is one of them!

With a focus on youth ages 13-18, the website wants to hear from teens about their key issues, encourage them to participate on their site, earn points for that participation, and vote for a nonprofit to receive funding with the points they’ve earned. Teens become members of the site, gaining points as they play games, take surveys, apply for scholarships, and post to the forums.

Every quarter Best Buy splits $250,000 between four nonprofits. Youth have until January 15 to gain points; from January 16-30 they donate their points to the nonprofit of their choice. At the end of the quarter, each nonprofit will receive a percentage of $250,000, apportioned according to its total votes.

All NYLC funding will support Youth Initiatives programming.

To help:

  • Encourage youth to sign up and be active on the @15 website.
  • Encourage those youth to tell their friends!
  • Remind them to donate their points January 16-30.

Please tell all your friends; help support NYLC’s youth programming in a new way!
