State Farm® Chairman and CEO Receives National Promise of America Award

On May 13, 2004, State Farm Chairman and CEO Ed Rust, Jr., received one of this year's six National Promise of America Awards from Americas Promise The Alliance for Youth. The awards, presented at a White House dinner hosted by First Lady Laura Bush, honors individuals from a cross section of American life who symbolize the individual and collective commitments that are being made to improve the futures of our nations youths.
Under Rust's leadership, State Farm has developed partnerships that engage youths in service-learning, promote child passenger safety, advance the teaching profession, and prevent domestic violence. As part of its overall commitment to excellence in education, State Farm supports efforts to ensure that all children have access to an education that will allow them to achieve their greatest potential and prepare them to be active participants in the economy and in the nation.
Rust (pictured with Laura Bush, l, and Americas Promise Co-chair Alma Powell, r) embodies State Farms tagline, like a good neighbor. His corporate leadership is ensuring that more young people experience the promise of America in hundreds of communities across the nation.
