Standards-Based Interactive Tool Complete!

Check out the latest additions to NYLC’s interactive tool for teachers, Lift: Raising the Bar for Service-Learning Practice. Designed to support professional development, these modules illustrate high-quality practice through video clips profiling three sites across the country. Peruse the modules, each of which explores one of the eight K-12 Service-Learning Standards for Quality Practice. Design your own training by selecting from a wide array of youth, teacher, and community partner interviews, student performances, and related pdf downloads.

Since the release of these standards in 2008, educators have found them to be a valuable resource for designing and executing quality service-learning projects. In Lift, NYLC presents the standards within the context of three schools — each differing in focus, grade level, and location. Through these examples, we highlight strategies for implementing each standard, provide points of discussion for you and your colleagues, and give you access to pdf tools to help in your understanding and implementation of quality service-learning.

Join the teachers already improving their practice by finding the Lift in the Generator School Network. (Join for free.) To see what it’s all about, try it now.
