bancroft award
The National Youth Leadership Council congratulates Senior Fellow Verna Cornelia Price, who will receive the Ann Bancroft Award in recognition of her support of girls and women. She will receive the award during a September 26, 2006, ceremony at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
Price is being honored as the founder of Girls in Action, a mentoring program that recruits women leaders to serve as mentors at North High School in Minneapolis. The program motivates and inspires girls to pursue academic success and teaches them how to make positive choices in school and life.
Price, a nationally recognized motivational speaker and presenter, has taught preschool through sixth grade, and has worked as an educational consultant for more than 15 years. In addition to being an NYLC senior fellow, she co-led the organization's Service-Learning Diversity/Equity Project and worked as an NYLC trainer and presenter.
