Planning Underway for the National Service-Learning Conference

Planning is already underway for the 22nd Annual National Service-Learning Conference with the theme “The Time is Now!” The world’s largest gathering of service-learning practitioners and advocates will be held Atlanta, Ga., April 6-9, 2011. Already the conference is attracting national and local organizations as supporters.

On June 18, Hands On and Points of Light Institute will host a breakfast for early supporters of the conference. As the national leader in service and volunteerism, the Institute is a key partner in recognizing and promoting engaged learning and the contributions of young people.

In mid-July, NYLC will hold the annual conference kick-off to help rally organizations in answering the charge, “The time is now!” Atlanta-based groups are encouraged to join the planning committee and young people across the nation are being recruited to serve on a youth planning committee. Kick-off participants will shape programming for the event and further develop the theme. Hands On and Points of Light Institute, Morehouse University School of Medicine, the American Association of School Administrators, Communities in Schools, Habitat for Humanity, Learn and Serve America, Youth Service America, and State Farm Companies Foundation are already part of the planning effort.

Interested in becoming a conference partner or affiliate? Want to plan a local service project for conference attendees? Want to serve on a planning committee? NYLC invites you to be part of the excitement and impact of the nation’s foremost convening of the service-learning, engaged education, and youth service fields.
