NYLC Welcomes New Board Members
After its annual meeting in November, the NYLC Board of Directors has the pleasure to announce two newly elected members to the Board: Ronnie Shaw, Director of Finance for the UPS Northern Plains District, and Mallory Keller, a high school student at Belton High School, Mo.
Ronnie Shaw holds Bachelors and MBA degrees from the University of West Florida. For the past 28 years he has worked for UPS, including serving on the UPS corporate finance team and on special projects relating to mergers and acquisitions. In the 1990’s he helped UPS develop an activity-based costing system that is now used throughout the company’s financial reporting. Since 2010, he has served as Director of Finance for the five-state Northern Plains district, overseeing cost-cutting and efficiency strategies for a multi-billion dollar territory. His tenure at UPS has also allowed Ronnie to practice and value community engagement. Ronnie has chaired two successful United Way campaigns and is regularly involved in community projects.
Mallory Keller is a senior at Belton High School in Belton, Mo. She attended the National Youth Leadership Training in 2011 and is serving on NYLC’s Youth Advisory Council for a second year. Through this work, she hopes to inform people about service-learning and to gain awareness about the achievement gap. At her school she is involved in DECA, National Honor Society, Project Ignition, and service-learning. In her free time she enjoys knitting, reading, watching movies, and traveling. Mallory’s future plans include attending a four-year college, becoming part of Teach For America, and then joining the Peace Corps.
In addition, the board elected Tim Showalter-Loch as the NYLC Board Chair and Abhi Madhugiri as Board Vice-Chair. NYLC Founder Jim Kielsmeier joined the Board as a non-voting Honorary Director to continue to provide vision and support for the organization. The Board and staff recognized and celebrated the nine years of formal service on the NYLC Board provided by both Jim Scheibel and Kathy Payne as each stepped off the Board as term-limited. Marilyn Pash and Pajnucci Vue were also recognized for their service at the meeting for their past three years of service. All will continue to support NYLC as former board members.
