NYLC will honor Minn. educators James and Pamela Toole with the Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award. The award, which recognizes leaders in the service-learning movement, will be presented at The 19th Annual National Service-Learning Conference, April 9-12, 2008, in Minneapolis.

James
and Pamela Toole have been the standard-bearers for service-learning practice
since the early 1990s, when they composed NYLC's professional development
department. With backgrounds in teaching and counseling, they are beloved as trainers nationally and
internationally. Lead authors of such
well-known works as The Service-Learning
Cycle and The Essential Elements
of Service-Learning, they continue to work for systemic improvements in
education through their Minnesota-based nonprofit The Compass Institute.
