The National Youth Leadership Council is proud to name educator Donald Hill as the recipient of the 2004 Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award.

A man of courage, creativity, compassion and integrity, Hill
(pictured) has inspired educators in California and across the country
to integrate service-learning into their schools, campuses and
community-based organizations. As a teacher, author, mentor, National Service-Learning Exchange center co-director,
and the director of the Service Learning 2000 division of Youth Service
California, he has provided the field with the vision, leadership and
advocacy to build service-learning programs that invest in young people
as valuable contributors to a democratic society.

“Don Hill is service-learning's ‘master teacher,'” says NYLC
President and CEO Jim Kielsmeier. “During the past four decades, he has
had an enormous impact on the growth and development of
service-learning.”

The Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award is given annually to
honor exemplary leaders who have inspired the service-learning field,
positively impacted the lives of young people and motivated others to
take up the banner of service. The year's award will be presented at The National Service-Learning Conference, March 28-31, in Orlando, Fla.
