Call Now to Fund the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act

The House and Senate are taking action on the appropriations for the funding of the Corporation for National and Community Service, including Learn and Serve America. Starting this week and continuing for at least the next month, Congress will be debating funding levels. Your voice needs to be heard.

Please take the following steps to support this important issue:

  1. To determine the members of your congressional delegation, visit www.congress.org and enter your zip code in the upper right corner. This database will provide you with contact information for your elected officials. Or get connected to their offices through the House Operator (202-225-3121) or Senate Operator (202-224-3121).
  2. When you call or email (do not send a letter or a fax), identify yourself as a constituent and ask to speak to the Legislative Assistant in charge of appropriations for national service and education issues.
  3. Let the staffer know that you strongly support funding the Corporation for National and Community Service at President's requested level of $1.16 billion for the next fiscal year. Urge them to make sure elementary, middle, and secondary age youth have full access to service-learning in their schools and communities by providing at least $50 million for Learn and Serve America and an additional $10 million to support the Summer of Service Initiative.

Thank you for making your call today.
