A Wild Start to The 18th Annual National Service-Learning Conference's Second Day

On March 29, the second day of The 18th Annual National Service-Learning Conference
got off to a wild start, as legendary paleontologist Jane Goodall
greeted attendees with a chimpanzee call. "I want to bring the voice of
the natural world, the voice of the chimpanzees," she told the crowd at
her morning keynote address.

It was a windy Wednesday morning in the
Bernalillo district of Albuquerque, N.M., where 60 attendees of the 18th Annual National
Service-Learning Conference from across the nation waited to go outside and
get dirty.

took the 18th Annual National
Service-Learning Conference theme Beyond Borders, Beyond Boundaries to a
new level by reaching out to youths and adults alike through the facilitation
of networking lunches, entertainment nights, and Youth Track workshops occurring
in the Youth Room.

received a mariachi welcome at the Albuquerque Convention Center on March 28. Like a team of pied
pipers, the six-person band, Mariachi Temampa, led eager participants
into the Kiva auditorium for the opening plenary session.
