Designing Academically Rigorous Service-Learning Curriculum

Service-learning is an educational strategy that engages students in academic learning while providing a service in the community. NYLC staff will share a process for writing academically rigorous service-learning curriculum focused on improving literacy skills. Explore how to use a backward design curriculum development model that links service and educational standards. With vivid real-life examples of successful programs, sample service-learning projects, and discuss common challenges and opportunities for overcoming them.
