NYLC and our partner awards shine a spotlight on exemplary leaders from across the field and nurture the leaders of the future. We congratulate this year's winners, who be celebrated at The 19th Annual National Service-Learning Conference, April 9-12, 2008, in Minneapolis.

The Alec Dickson Servant Leader Award honors James and Pamela Toole, exemplary leaders who have inspired the service-learning field, positively impacted the lives of young people, and motivated others to take up the banner of service.

Edward A. Donaldson is the 2008 State Farm Service-Learning Champion Award winner. This award recognizes a non-traditional advocate of service learning by acknowledging the valuable role played by a business or community leader who has partnered with youth to advance the cause of service-learning.
The State Farm Service-Learning Practitioner Leadership Award recognizes Mary Rodgers who has equipped young people to lead and serve, both through their direct work with youths and by nurturing other practitioners.

The Red Cross Club of Springfield High School in Springfield, Penn. has been awarded the 2008 State Farm Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award at The 19th Annual National Service-Learning Conference, recognizing their service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership.

NYLC will honor Daisy Slan, a mother, grandparent and mentor with the Stellar Award, which honors the late Stella Raudenbush's work as a community activist, teacher, and spiritual seeker and passion for children, social justice, community, diversity, urban education, and elders . 

Trevor Dougherty, CosmoGIRL!, Humane Society Youth, and PeaceJam Foundation are this year's recipients of The Harris Wofford Award: a recognition of the youth service movement honoring Harris Wofford's life work of making "service and service-learning the common expectation and common experience of every young person in America."
