Space is available during Our World, Our Future at the Minneapolis Convention Center to sell items whose proceeds go directly to an organization or cause. All individuals wishing to sell items must rent a six-foot skirted table from the National Youth Leadership Council. Tables will only be available during limited mealtime hours and are for selling merchandise for a cause only. more »

Project Ignition Youth to be Honored by US Secretary of Transportation
The Department of Transportation has invited 10 youth and 10 adults mentors from Project Ignition schools from across the country for a shadow day at the Department of Transportation. These students will explore job opportunities, be honored by the Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood at a small luncheon, meet with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, and talk with Washington officials about how Project Ignition youth are demonstrating leadership in their communities through their efforts to improve driving behavior.

SPPS Community Education Service-Learning Training
Sponsored by Saint Paul Public Schools Community Education and the National Youth Leadership Council, this training will explore techniques for assessing community needs, help participants improve the quality of their practice, and instruct on how to adopt service-learning as a teaching strategy. Participants will also learn how to use the Generator School Network [gsn.nylc.org] and learn about Minneapolis Public Schools after-school service-learning programs; ShineOn, HYPE, and Everyday Leaders. more »
The 23rd Annual National Service-Learning Conference and youthrive PeaceJam Leadership Conference Scholarship Application
The conference offers a limited number of scholarships based on financial need. The number of scholarships offered is contingent upon limited, variable funding, and scholarships cannot be offered to all qualified applicants. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded per school/organization.
Scholarship awards will cover partial registration fee only. Travel and lodging costs are the responsibility of the attendee. more »

Do you have a high-quality service-learning project you would like to highlight at the conference? Not ready for a full 90-minute workshop session but have a powerful message to deliver? Then consider being part of the Service-Learning Showcase.
Showcases will be set up as table top displays on a 6-foot table. Students are encouraged to staff their showcase. There will be neither electricity hook ups nor internet connections. Each showcase will be displayed one day only (either Thursday or Friday). more »
Guilford County Schools Service-Learning Ambassadors
NYLC will conduct the Guilford County Schools Service-Learning Ambassadors Training with 75 youth representing all 25 high schools in the district, along with their adult mentors. This is part of an ongoing professional development trainings series with the Guilford County Schools that includes an introduction for youth and teachers to service-learning, guiding teachers on service-learning curriculum planning, and training service-learning teacher leaders from each school in the district.
Shine On! Student Newspaper
Shine On! Is a district-wide student-run newspaper in Minneapolis, Minn. written by and for youth. The newspaper is looking for youth to submit essays, poems, drawings, etc. that address how after-school activities are strongly associated with success in and beyond school to include in the next issue. Teachers are also encouraged to have their students submit. The submission deadline is Nov. 18.
