Every Student a Citizen West Regional Meeting
NYLC CEO Kelita Svoboda Bak will be the keynote speaker at the Every Student a Citizen West Regional Meeting.
Every Student a Citizen is a two-year initiative of the National Center for Learning and Citizenship at the Education Commission of the States. We are convening and offering technical assistance to state teams to assist them in developing informed, effective policy agendas for civic learning and civic engagement in P-12 schools.
Participation in meeting is by invitation only.
Extended for 2012 National Youth Leadership Training
The deadline to apply to attend the 2012 National Youth Leadership Training has been extended to Friday, May 25 2012.
The National Youth Leadership Training, held July 14-21 at the Audubon Center of the North Woods in Sandstone, Minn., is a life-changing week of adventure, self-discovery, cultural exchange, leadership-building, and service where young people learn the skills needed to tackle pressing issues in their communities, including the achievement gap. Youth participants attend the eight-day training, and adult mentors join for the final three days. more »
North Carolina Service-Learning Summit
NYLC staff member Michael VanKeulen will serve as a luncheon keynote speaker as well as represent NYLC on a panel for Community Organizations/Nonprofits engaged in Service-Learning at the Inaugural NC Service-Learning Summit. The North Carolina Service-Learning Coalition, with support from Communities In Schools of North Carolina & Learn and Serve America, are excited to host the first ever statewide summit specifically designed to promote, develop, and support high quality service-learning in K-20 student experiences. more »

Service-Learning Young Professionals off-site networking event
SLYP — Service-Learning Young Professionals — is a group of young professionals dedicated to the practice of service-learning in education. Young professionals as well as experienced veterans are welcome to attend this informal networking event after the second day of the National Service-Learning Conference and youthrive PeaceJam Leadership Conference at Hell’s Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis. Light appetizers will be provided sponsored by NYLC’s Generator School Network.
