Youth Engagement Zone service-learning training
As part of a Youth Engagement Zone project, NYLC is providing service-learning professional development to teachers at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School. The "Connecting Through Service" project engages high school students at risk of dropping out. The program embeds service-learning into core academic curricula, integrates entrepreneurial skills and tribal culture with service-learning projects, and establishes a youth leadership group. more »

2011 National Youth Leadership Training
Youth from around the country gather to forge connections across races, ethnicities, genders, geographies, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Together, they participate in leadership activities, cultural events, and service projects while exploring issues related to the achievement gap, race relations, and ethics.

Service-Learning Curriculum Writing Workshop
More than two dozen service-learning teacher leaders from Guilford County Schools gather to refine and share high-quality service-learning curricula they have written for the upcoming school year.
Higher Education/PK-12 Service Learning Seminar

This institute will introduce Guilford County teachers to service-learning and highlight the work of their peers in the district.
Guilford County Curriculum Training
NYLC will guide Guilford County teachers through the project-based self-assessment process and provide coaching and support on creating academically rigorous service-learning experiences.
Path to Peace: Summer Workshop
Join experienced service-learning practitioners Nan Peterson and Lisa Sackreiter in a three-day workshop for public and private educators that includes service-learning best practices and hands-on service experience.
National service expert Drs. Pam and Jim Toole of Compass Institute will present new ideas about and research on service. Dr. Jenny Friedman of Doing Good Together will talk about the practice of building a culture of service in schools and individuals. And Kelita Svoboda Bak, CEO of NYLC, will share service-learning resources.

Project Ignition Tier 2 Information Webinar Session II
NYLC staff will go over what it means to be a Tier 2 school, how to submit project proposals and reporting responsibilities, and share information on the 2012 National Service-Learning Conference.
