Qatar Foundation International Brings Students from Three Continents Together For Community Service and Leadership Projects
WASHINGTON, March 7th, 2012: Qatar Foundation International (QFI) has selected 37 students from three continents to attend the YALLAH: Commit to Action trip in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sixty applications were submitted, but the students with the best community service and engagement project proposals were selected.

Donna Cook, Founder of youthrive, to Receive National Honor
Saint Paul, Minn. — Donna Cook, Executive Director and founder of Twin Cities-based youthrive, the upper Midwest affiliate for PeaceJam International, will receive a national award for her work engaging young leaders in peace programming. Cook will receive the 2012 Stellar Service-Learning Award from the National Youth Leadership Council, a Saint Paul, Minn.-based nonprofit that convenes the National Service-Learning Conference annually. Cook will be honored Wed., April 11, at this year’s event in Minneapolis.

Twenty-Five High Schools Receive Project Ignition Grants to Promote Safer, Smarter Driving

Student representatives from 10 Project Ignition National Leader Schools from across the U.S. have been invited to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in Washington D.C. to share how they and their classmates are positively impacting teen driver safety in their communities. Project Ignition, coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council® and funded by State Farm®, is a teen driver safety grant program that connects academic goals to teen driver safety using service-learning.
