Top Ten High Schools Lead Change in Teen Driver Behavior

ST. PAUL, Minn. (June 5, 2012) — Ten high schools in the United States and Canada have been chosen as leader schools in teen driver safety. These schools were selected by Project Ignition — a service-learning teen driver safety program sponsored by State Farm® and coordinated by the National Youth Leadership Council® — based on criteria including student participation, campaign results, and connection to learning objectives.

Service Organizations Bring Nobel Laureate to Frogtown

St. Paul, Minn. – On Saturday, April 14, local nonprofits youthrive and the National Youth Leadership Council® will convene hundreds of youth and adults in the St. Paul neighborhood of Frogtown and surrounding communities to work side-by-side during Serve and Celebrate, a day of volunteer service. The 2003 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi will join the community for this daylong event.

At the 23rd Annual National Service-Learning Conference® and youthrive PeaceJam Leadership Conference, Secretary LaHood will speak about the importance of youth leadership in addressing critical public safety issues like distracted driving. Saint Paul, Minn. — Nan Peterson, Director of Service-Learning at The Blake School in Hopkins, Minn., is the recipient of a national honor recognizing her work. The Service-Learning Practitioner Leadership Award, given by the National Youth Leadership Council, celebrates those who have equipped young people to lead and serve. The award will be given during the 23rd Annual National Service-Learning Conference® and youthrive PeaceJam Leadership Conference on April 11, 2012 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Upstream Downstream Connection Wins National Award

Saint Paul, Minn. — Members of the Upstream Downstream Connection of Winterville, N.C., are receiving a national award for their leadership and service.
